Novel modeling approaches for applications in natural and man-made water systems

This talk is an overview of research projects that involve modeling of both groundwater
and water distribution systems. In these projects, we develop and apply novel modeling
approaches and tools, including adjoint methods, probability theory, wavelet analysis, and
optimization methods. We use these approaches to address practical water-related issues
such as water rights, groundwater remediation, and characterization of contaminant sources.
