Dr. Stein Sture's main teaching and research activities and interests are in the areas of geotechnical engineering, geomechanics, computational mechanics and structural mechanics. Experimental and analytical modeling, including constitutive and stability properties of geomaterials and cementaitious materials, have been his main focus in recent years. He is also active on several national and international boards and committees. He presently serves as Editor of the Journal of Engineering Mechanics (ASCE).
Stein Sture's consulting experience during the past 20 years, has involved 22 companies or agencies, including Shell Development Co., United Nations, etc.
Principal or Co-Principal Investigator in 60 major research projects sponsored by NSF, NASA, Air Force Office of Scientific Research, etc. Supervised 45 Ph.D. and M.S. Thesis students.
Authored or co-authored 155 refereed papers and chapters in books, and 70 research reports.
