Environmental Engineering Program

Centers

Faculty in the Environmental Engineering Program are affiliated with the following centers.

Center for Drinking Water Optimization (CDWO):

The Center for Drinking Water Optimization will focus existing resources and incorporate emerging technologies into optimization activities that will maximize public health protection while minimizing expenditures for existing and/or additional treatment processes. The Center will serve as a centralized resource that will address optimization issues with respect to current and future regulations, and utility and consumer perspectives.
Faculty and staff involved with CDWO: Scott Summers

Center for Advanced Decision Support in Water and Environmental Systems (CADSWES):

An interdisciplinary setting for the research, development, and implementation of water resources and environmental decision support systems.  The CADSWES team includes environmental and water resources engineers, software engineers, geographers, and management information systems scientists who combine their skills to develop integrated tools which address complex environmental resources management challenges.
Faculty and staff involved with CADSWES: Jana Milford

Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR):

INSTAAR is a graduate research institute engaged in interdisciplinary research leading to a predictive understanding of the biological, chemical, and physical interactions that regulate the earth system in arctic, alpine, and other regions. They base their studies on modern processes and those that have occurred in the past; thus, their work is directly related to the national and international goal of investigating global climate change. In pursuit of this mission, INSTAAR provides research and educational opportunities in an interdisciplinary environment for University of Colorado faculty and students, and joins other groups on and off campus in joint science programs.  Faculty and staff involved with INSTAAR: Diane McKnight
