Water resources is an important part of engineering. How humans use the natural resources in water supplies is becoming more crucial as we continue to taint our environment. Mining, building cities and roads, and growing crops all affect the quality of water in the environment. Therefore, people must be informed about the effects that engineering practices have on the water we need to live. As Jacques Cousteau once said, "The future of civilization depends on water."
