Water management issues at oil sands operations in Canada Securing sufficient quantities of water for processing oil sands is a major problem for the industry. While water resources engineers are typically charged with addressing these issues, there are some aspects of the problem where the geotechnical engineering expertise is needed to completely address the problem. The example of oil sands operations will be used in the seminar to discuss broader issues of the role of geotechnical engineers in dealing with water in soils.
