Satellite Remote Sensing Resources for Hydrological Studies Mary Jo Brodzik CIRES Senior Associate Scientist NSIDC Special Projects Lead Hydrological research may benefit by the use of related satellite-derived data sets, but where does one begin finding or even understanding about the various trade-offs of these data sets? I will briefly summarize basic characteristics of satellite remote sensing instruments that are used to produce freely available data sets that are likely applicable for hydrological studies. My focus will be land-surface products that include snow cover and water equivalent, soil moisture, and NDVI. I will also include a list of resources for audience members to consult with questions about specific data sets.
