Water Resources in Ecuador and Other Stories Abstract This talk will be a two-part talk. The first part will provide a brief overview of recent and on-going groundwater modeling projects on topics ranging from protection of source water produced from drinking water supply wells to novel approaches to groundwater remediation. The second part will discuss water resources issues in Ecuador. Although the country of Ecuador is about the size of Colorado, its geography is very diverse, even over short distances. Some areas have an excess of water and risk of flooding, while other areas have a shortage of water and are challenged to meet the water demands of the communities. This talk will discuss some of the challenges that Ecuador faces in providing an adequate supply of water and minimizing the risk of flooding.
