Yongwei Shan
PhD Student
Yongwei is pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering within the Construction Engineering and Management Program focusing on labor productivity studies. He graduated from Chonqing University with a Bachelors degree and worked in the industry for almost 4 years. He came to the University of Kentucky in 2007 and finished his masters degree in 2008. Then he continued his PhD studies and transferred to CU in 2012.
Yongwei is a Kentucky Wildcat fan. He loves photography, sightseeing, and volunteering in his free time, and he likes cuisine from different countries.
Omar Falah Alruwaythi
PhD Student
Omar is currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering within the Construction Engineering and Management Program. His research is focusing on the productivity simulation of multiple factors utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).O
Omar completed his B.S. in Civil Engineering at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia in 2007. Then he worked in the industry for almost 3 years. In 2013, he graduated from University of Colorado at Boulder with a M.S. in Civil Engineering under the Construction Engineering and Management Program. Post-graduation, he will become an Assistant Professor at Taibah University in Saudi Arabia. In his free time he likes travelling, playing soccer as well as enjoys reading maps.
Mohammed Albattah
PhD Student
Mohammed is a graduate student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, pursuing a PhD degree in Civil Engineering within the Construction Engineering and Management program. His research is focusing on construction workforce demographics, which is funded by Construction Industry Institute (CII).
Mohammed holds a Master’s degree in Engineering, concentration in Construction Management from Vanderbilt University, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He worked in the industry for a year after he got his Bachelor degree. His hobbies include soccer, Skiing, and Traveling.
Pierre Bannier
Master Student
He is pursuing a Master’s Degree within the Construction Engineering and Management program. He had previously completed a M.S. at the ESTP Paris (École Spéciale des Travaux Publics in Paris, France) in Civil Engineering with a focus on International Engineering. Now His research is focusing on workspace requirement modeling to improve frond-end planning on construction projects.
His hobbies are skiing, sailing, and travelling across the US and beyond.
Jack Sweaney
Master Student
Jack is pursuing a Master's Degree within the Construction Engineering and Management program and a certificate in the Engineering for Developing Communities (EDC) program. He had previously completed a B.S. at Marquette University in civil engineering. His research is focusing on the cognitive demand of 3D printed engineering information with a focus on developing communities. His hobbies include soccer, snowboarding, and mountain biking.
Valerie Carrasco Torres
Master Student
Valerie is pursuing a Master’s Degree in the Construction Engineering and Management program within the Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering Department. Her research is focusing in the various approaches that the State Department of Transportation (DOT) employs to oversee consultants for construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services.
She graduated from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in Civil Engineering and worked in the construction industry for almost 10 years. While working, she attained her professional engineering license and project management certification.
In her free time, Valerie likes to read, travel, enjoy different cuisines, and play sports.
Dave Bonham
Master Student
Dave Bonham, BSCE, EIT, PMP is a candidate for a master’s degree in construction Engineering and Management. He is in the first year of his program and received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of New Mexico in May of 2012. As an under-graduate student, Mr. Bonham is a committed student who exceled in the academic environment and was recognized by national organizations and industry leaders as well as his University and Engineering Department. These recognitions include: National Science Foundation (NSF) Endowed Scholar, Outstanding Senior ASCE, Outstanding Senior National Society of professional Engineers (NSPE), Outstanding Junior UNM CE Department, and graduated summa cum laude. Mr. Bonham is affiliated with many organizations including ASCE, NSPE, NSF, PMI, AGC, USGBC, Tau Beta Pi, Chi Epsilon, and Phi Kappa Phi. Professionally, Mr. Bonham has been certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and holds a Masters of Applied Project Management from Villanova University. He has worked in the construction industry for 15 years in the capacity of estimator, designer, superintendent, senior project manager and vice president. His experience spans across both labor and GC organizations on projects from $300k to $58M.
